Laser Hair Removal Leeds
Being a waxing specialist for many years, here at Eden Beauty we felt like the next obvious step was to become the ultimate hair removal specialists in Leeds. This is where we decided to include laser hair removal into our expansive list of treatments. Abi spent many, many hours researching the best and most effective machines in the industry and this is where she discovered that diode laser hair removal has quickly become the best in the business – rapidly overtaking the older IPL machines for comfort and effectiveness. At our laser hair removal clinic in Leeds we are confident you will find complete professionalism, satisfaction and comfort in every treatment performed.
How does diode laser hair removal work?
Diode laser hair removal uses a single wavelength of light with high frequency to effectively heat the pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft which then travels down to destroy the root of the hair. This heat also cuts the blood flow to the follicle which massively inhibits future growth therefore permanently reducing anywhere between 80% – 100% of hair.
What is the difference between diode laser hair removal and IPL?
IPL (intense pulsed light) technology is technically not a laser treatment. It uses a broad spectrum of light with many wavelengths meaning it leads to unfocused energy around the hair and skin area. As a result there is much wastage of energy and less selective absorption in the follicle resulting in much less effective destruction of the hair. That means that, typically, IPL technology will require more regular and long-term treatments for hair reduction. A diode laser will work more effectively with a lot less patient discomfort as it includes integrated cooling. Our laser machine also treats all skin types whereas IPL machines typically only treat Fitzpatrick skin types 1 – 3.
Do I need to book a consultation prior to my appointment?
Absolutely yes! As each clients needs are different, an in depth consultation is needed first to determine your suitability and to put together a treatment plan. An essential patch test is also carried out which is needed before any treatment is performed.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people will need anywhere between 6 and 12 sessions to see a permanent reduction in hair growth but the average amount of sessions is 8. Please be aware that after hormonal changes you may need top ups as brand new course hairs appear. This is especially for areas like the face and for people that suffer with normal conditions such as PCOS. Your personal treatment plan will be explained during consultation.
Is everyone suitable for laser hair removal?
With our amazing diode laser hair removal machine we can treat every skin type from Fitzpatrick 1 – 6, however if the hair itself has no pigment I’m afraid the treatment will not be successful. This means that white, grey and red hairs will not work with laser but we would be 100% honest and tell you this on consultation as we would not want to waste your time or money. We do however provide amazing waxing services that would be suitable for clients with these kind of hair types.
Is it painful?
The diode machine keeps the tip cooled to a soothing degrees which means that the treatment is virtually pain free! You may feel a slight heat but shouldn’t feel any intense pain throughout the procedure.
How often do I need in between sessions?
It totally depends on the area you are having treated and the coarseness/colour of the hair. Your therapist will determine this in your consultation but it is anytime between every 2 – 6 weeks.
